Who We Are

Ruth Brooker, Creator

Features Writer, and Creative Campaigner

Ruth is an accidental and unexpectedly passionate advocate for better indoor air quality in our public spaces but particularly in schools, so they really are inclusive and all children can attend safely.

“I became aware of the problem with indoor air when my little son was going through cancer treatment. How could I help him access his classroom when chicken pox, strep A, covid-19 and flu were in high circulation?

So I started monitoring classroom CO2, chatting to staff and building DIY air filters to help my children’s school be as safe as possible.”

Dr Allen Haddrell, Director

Aerosol Scientist, Research Fellow, University of Bristol

Allen Haddrell is an aerosol scientist and Research Fellow in infection and immunity currently working in the School of Chemistry at the University of Bristol.

He is interested in understanding the complex interactions/interface between all types of aerosol and human health. Dr Haddrell has a specific interest in the development of methodology and instrumentation, involving numerous particle levitation techniques.

His research interests include aerosols, aerosol toxicity and pharmacology, atmospheric chemistry, proteomics, and instrumentation development and research centres around how aerosol affects human health. He has over 50 publications in peer-reviewed journals such as PNAS and Nature Communications. He has delivered over 30 invited presentations at international conferences and institutions in these fields, including an invited keynote in summer 2025 at the Workplace and Indoor Aerosols Conference organised by the WHO and CERN.
