Building and Maintaining Filters in Our School

DIY air filter decorated as a robot

For the last three years, I’ve been building and maintaining DIY air filters for our primary school. There are good commercial options out there of course, but if budgets are tight the DIY option offers really good performance for 30% of the cost.

Each box takes about 40 minutes to lash together with duct tape and cardboard and then however long is required to decorate it!

I find the kids engage with it more, and ask questions, if it’s fun.

It’s been really helpful to get my community involved; I’ve built boxes with other parents and my children. And the key person to understanding what’s happening in the schools is the caretaker! Go and buy them some cake and have a chat.
