Our Children Deserve Clean Air – Let's Make It Happen in Kenilworth

We ensure that our children drink clean water, we provide them with nutritious food, so let’s make sure that they breathe clean air whilst they learn!

Seven state funded primary schools across Kenilworth could be equipped with air filters for just £41,286. That's all it would take to help protect our children from airborne viral particles, air pollution, allergens, mould and dust; the things that no parent wants their child breathing in all day every day.

The new Kenilworth Secondary school has excellent indoor air quality thanks to its new building and mechanical ventilation system. Our primary schools, however, are not so lucky. Their classrooms rely on natural ventilation alone, which is not enough to ensure that children breathe clean, fresh air whilst they are learning. It needs additional filtration.

St Augustine's Primary School is already taking action to provide air filters, many of which have been donated by parents, which is a fantastic first step. We want clean indoor air to be managed, and funded, by the local authority. We are asking the County Council to prioritise investment in the health of our children by funding effective air filters for all of the primary school classrooms in Kenilworth.

This isn't a radical idea.
It's already happening

Over 200 schools in London have air filters thanks to Mayor Sadiq Khan. More than 70 schools in Hertfordshire are breathing cleaner air. And Bristol is on track to equip over 100 schools. Kenilworth can be next!

Our children spend 6+ hours each day in their classrooms. Clean air shouldn’t be seen as a luxury; it is a fundamental requirement for good health.

We can do this. But we need your voice.

Please write to Warwickshire County Council and contact MP Jeremy Wright (who is already supportive of this initiative). We think that £41,286 is a very small price to pay for healthier, happier children who can focus on learning instead of fighting off illness.

Let's give the children of Kenilworth the clean air they deserve.
