Aerosol scientist. Research fellow, University of Bristol

Allen Haddrell is an aerosol scientist in infection and immunity currently working in the School of Chemistry. He is interested in understanding the complex interactions/interface between all types of aerosol and human health. Dr Haddrell has a specific interest in the development of methodology and instrumentation, involving numerous particle levitation techniques.

Ventilation Specialist, EIA AQWG Chair

Nathan Wood is the MD at Farmwood Ltd. For the past 10 years, he has championed better ventilation, IAQ and smarter building technologies. He now focuses on Special Projects, Competence and Compliance within BESA, as well as advancing National Standards for the ventilation industry. This shift allows him to work closely with industry leaders and policymakers to drive real change.

Associate Professor of Viral Oncology, University of Leeds

Dr Griffin read Natural Sciences at the University of Cambridge, then stayed to complete a PhD in the Department of Medicine at Addenbrooke’s Hospital. He moved to Leeds in 2001 to work as a post-doc researching hepatitis C virus (HCV). He became independent in 2007 and tenured in 2014 as an Associate Professor of Viral Oncology in the School of Medicine.

Consultant Anaesthetist, Carmarthen

Prof Thomas has worked for 27 years as a doctor, culminating in Co-Founding the New Welsh Air Ambulance Service. He won the UK Ventilator Challenge with his CTEX Oxygenation Device. Now involved in Medical Technology and creating a new way for how care is provided. Also designed a UK version of the DIY air filter for classrooms.

Consultant in Respiratory Medicine, Manchester

Dr Binita Kane is a respiratory physician at University Hospital of South Manchester. She graduated from the University of Manchester and has a PhD in airways inflammation. Dr Kane is currently the lead for integrated respiratory care at MFT, the Greater Manchester Respiratory Health Innovation program, and the North West Severe Asthma Network.

Head of UK Operations, Smart Air 

After extensive research during the early months of COVID in 2020, Sharon Isaac-Upton set up Airbon to focus on clean air for the UK market. During this time, Sharon set up a UK partnership agreement with Smart Air, and organised 3rd party logistics. Smart Air UK has become the trading name of Airbon Ltd. They are a small team in the UK but have passion and commitment to affordable clean air.

Consultant Cardiologist, Newcastle Hospitals NHS Trust 

Dr Duncan is a Senior Consultant who has worked in cardiology for 19 years. In addition to her medical qualifications, she also has a degree in Virology/Immunology/Bacteriology and two postgraduate degrees in cardiovascular research. Dr Duncan is a former BSE Research Investigator Winner and a former RCP Presidents Gold Medal Award Finalist.

Researcher and Engineer at CERN

Andre is a researcher at CERN, the European Laboratory for Particle Physics. Working in the Occupational Health and Safety Department, he is the creator and developer of the CERN Airborne Model for Indoor Risk Assessment (CAiMIRA) and has been collaborating with the WHO on the topic since 2021.
